Hartley representatives do well at the Inter-Regionals

10 September 2007

Kent relinquished their stranglehold on the Inter-Regional Championships, held at Pontins, Brean Sands over the weekend on 8yth and 9th September.  Since 1996 Kent (or its predecessor - South East) Region has won one of the three major titles, Division 1 champions, Challenge Champions or Junior Champions.  But this year, despite Hartley involvement in all three areas, Kent came home without a trophy.

In the Division One competition Kent, including Luke Fribbens, came second to Southern who won the title for the first time in 13 years. Kent lost by 4 games (Southern 64 wins, Kent 60 wins).

In the Challenge division, the Kent squad boasted a triple of Colin Senneck, Joyce and Mick Nash who were the third best team in this division overall.  Martyn Fribbens was team captain.  But despite the excellent results of Joyce, Mick and Colin (won 9 of 11) the squad lost by 13 points to Chiltern (both won 32 games, Chiltern +162 points, Kent +149).

In the Junior competition, Kent, with Charles Fribbens, slipped to third having lost twice to the overall champions, Southern.  Southern won 11, Northern 9 and Kent 9 (with ten points fewer)

Hartley players should think carefully about entering for the Regional next year as the KPA will be looking for new blood to help win back the trophies that are rightfully Kent's!
