Hartley pair take fourth at EPA Mixed Doubles

26-28 May 2007

Torrential rain and winter temperatures took their toll of the English Petanque Association's Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles event, held again this year at British Sugar's Sports Ground, Bury St. Edmunds over the Late Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

Despite the dreadful weather, Mick and Joyce Nash had the best Hartley result of the weekend, coming fourth in the Mixed Doubles on Monday after five wins out of six.  In fact, the weather was so bad on Monday that three Hartley teams, despite pre-registering and paying their entrance fees, went home, and one team dropped out during the day.  Apart from Mick and Joyce, Rae and Keith Wall stayed on but unfortunately came 37th with 2 wins.  However, 46 teams did remain and Mick and Joyce were just a fraction off winning.  The winners were Miles Gooda & Sarah Huntley (Chiltern) with 6 wins out of 6

On Saturday, in the EPA Singles, 59 players registered.  The Hartley results were:

14th Colin Senneck (Hartley), 4 wins
16th Colin Gibbs (Hartley), 4 wins
31st Mick Nash (Hartley), 3 wins
43rd Peter Bryant (Hartley), 2 wins
56th Anne Senneck (Hartley), 1 win

The winner was Sofiane Lachani (Eastern Counties) with 6 wins out of 6.

On Sunday, in the EPA Doubles, 62 teams registered.  The Hartley results were:

29th Joyce & Mick Nash (Hartley), 3 wins
37th Anne & Colin Senneck (Hartley), 3 wins
41st Irene & Colin Gibbs (Hartley), 3 wins
46th Linda & John Bradley (Hartley), 2 wins
51st Diane & Peter Bryant (Hartley), 2 wins
52nd Rae & Keith Wall (Hartley), 2 wins

The winners were Winners Sofiane Lachani & Simon Bird (Eastern Counties) with 6 wins out of 6
