Hartley
are successful again at the Kent Mixed Doubles
14 teams
entered the Kent Mixed Doubles held at Hartley on 15th October 2006.
The plate
final was contested between Elaine and Barry from Harriers and Sue Turner
and Kevin Spillett of Plough and Chequers.
The main
semi finals saw Tracy Turner (P&C) and
Jean-Louis Guiot come from behind, (12 - 1 down), to beat previous two
times winners Jean Olley and Colin Senneck 13 - 12.
In the other
semi-final, Joyce and Mick Nash had a much closer contest but also
came from behind to beat Mags and Ron Yates 13 - 9.
The final
was contested between Tracy Turner (Plough and Chequers) and Jean-Louis
Guiot (Hartley) and Joyce and Mick Nash both of Hartley.
Joyce and
Mick took the first end and the first point to lead 1 - 0, but this lead
was to be short lived as their opponents went on to dominate proceedings
and lead 11 - 1. However, a determined
fight back saw Joyce and Mick Nash
winning 13 - 11.
It is an
interesting post script that since its inception, this trophy has always
been won by a Hartley pairing.
