Hartley sends seven to Brean

Following the fourth regional qualifier on a cool Sunday 9th July at Hartley, seven of our club players will be in the Kent and Combined squads at Brean for the Inter-regionals in September.

Jean-Louis Guiot (Jokers Wild with Phil and Diz Murray) came 9th on Sunday to finish overall in 4th place and will be a member of Kent 4 in the first division.  The all Hartley team, Hartley CC1, of Colin Senneck, Anne Senneck, Mick Nash, Joyce Nash didn't score any points on their home terrain but still qualified overall 10th and will be Kent 2 in Challenge Division, Luke Fribbens (a member of P&C Ponies with Tracy Turner, Kris Smith and Rowland Jones) picked up 2 points as winners of the plate and qualified 14th.  They will be part of the Combined squad in Division 2. The juniors of BTY (with Charles Fribbens) came 15th on Sunday and finished overall 16th.  However, as the juniors are selected rather than having to qualify, they will hear later whether they will be Kent Juniors or Combined Juniors (a role the four boys, Robert Cooter, Philip Jarrett and Alex Bruce, as well as Charles) had last year.

Other Hartley players in the 26 teams that attended this 4th qualifier were Eagles (Mags Yates, Ron Yates, John Fowers, Eileen Fowers) didn't score in this qualifier and came 24th overall.  Bringing up the rear, once more, were Coots (Martyn Fribbens and Alan Rush, with Nigel Mansell from the Fighting Cocks) who didn't trouble the scoreboard.

Apart from the chilly wind and drizzle in the morning, the smell of bacon cooking all morning kept everyone going and things perked up a bit in the afternoon.  Overall, Plough and Chequers players dominated the top places with Rejects (Matt Horrigan, Dave Hurren, Richard Spillett, Simon Mannering) and P&C (Dave Turner, Kevin Spillett, Dave Lavelle) sharing top place and P&C 2002 (Bruno Bove, Leigh Maxey, Sylvan Borsi) in third.
